A great bag is essential for any mom with babies or toddlers. And to be honest? I’ve never had a bag that I really loved.
So, I went on a bit of a hunt to find the best bags for moms. I need something that makes me look like a million bucks but also has pockets for sippy cups, compartments for snacks, and a slot for the library card and my ID.
I did a ton of shopping and lots of testing, and this is your ultimate buying guide for mom-approved bags in 2024.
P.S.: Unlike a bunch of other “best bags for moms” articles out there, I actually bought and tested these recommendations and can attest they are incredible!

Pros
Cons
The Huhu diaper backpack is hands-down the best version of a diaper bag I’ve ever had.
It has all the bells and whistles you want to stay organized so you can access important items quickly. The material is also extremely durable – almost like the material of a seatbelt – and the zippers and other closures are top-of-the-line.
I love that the top flap automatically closes when you swing it down – the closure connects seamlessly, and it has a second magnetic closure beneath to ensure extra security.
The water bottle pouches have been fantastic, and the two zippered pouches inside ensure quick access to key items, like diapers and wipes.
We bring this with us for every outing – doctor’s office visits, vacations, trips to the park – and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

Pros
Cons
The last thing I want in a purse is a big open space with no pockets or pouches. That’s why The Bali by Minooy stood out to me so much – it has a ton of compartments, and they’re useful!
The middle compartment is easy to open for quick access to often-needed items, like your car keys or phone.
For less-used items, the two zippered pouches on either side are perfect for keeping them secure and organized. That’s where I keep a mini pack of wipes and two diapers, along with things like Ibuprofen, chapstick, and sunglasses.
Lastly, the outermost zippered area has slots for credit cards, so this purse also doubles as a wallet!
Pros
Cons
The BOGG bag is a necessity whenever we go to the beach, a pool, or out on the boat.
It fits all of our beach towels, changes of clothes, water bottles and snacks, and sunscreen for a family of five.
I especially love that it can get thrown around, beat up, and messy, and it has held up beautifully. You can just hose it down when you get home and it’s good as new.
I do wish it came with a little pouch for your phones since I think most people are using this at the beach or pool. That said, it’s still very much worth it.
Pros
Cons
The Wrangler crossbody sling is a great purchase if you’re on a budget and don’t want to spend over $100 for a handbag.
It’s tiny, but it fits those small essentials like your phone, keys, and a few cards.
The two pouches make it easy to separate items for better organization, and the small side zippered pocket on the back is great for storing items you need quickly and often, like your keys.
For a quick day of running errands, this bag fits the bill, and for the price? You can’t beat it.
Pros
Cons
The new parent tote bag from Lululemon caught my eye the moment I saw it. It’s absolutely perfect for all of those after-school extracurriculars.
It’s also great for taking to the gym or even on trips as a carry-on bag.
The fact that it includes a removable pouch with a changing mat is really nice for new parents, but don’t let that sway you if you don’t have young kids anymore.
This bag is ideal for travel, gym days, and really anytime you need a larger bag to stuff lots of stuff into. I get compliments on this one every time I take it out!
Pros
Cons
I don’t have very many designer items, but boy, am I a sucker for Louboutin.
And my husband knows it, so for my birthday a couple of years ago, he gifted me this Cabata tote bag, and I rave about it to everyone I know!
It’s shockingly expensive, but at least everyone who sees it can appreciate the “bloody” red bottom.
But more importantly, it’s massive and fits all the mom things. No one would guess that I have 4 diapers, a pack of wipes, tons of snacks, and all my usual purse things in this luxury bag. Let’s keep ’em guessing!
You do need to buy a purse organizer to go inside, though, or all your things will mingle together and make a mess. I got this one from Amazon, and it blends right in and keeps everything in its place.
All in all, if you’re looking for the best designer or Louboutin purse for moms, the Cabata tote takes the cake.
Pros
Cons
Petunia Pickle Bottom knocked it out of the park with their Live for the Weekender travel bag. We take it with us on every vacation, whether we’re bringing the kids along or not.
I actually made an Instagram video post about this bag back in 2021 – you can check it out here.
The inside storage system is absolutely fantastic – you can store so much in this bag, and thanks to the compartments, it’s all neatly organized.
I love that you can carry this by the two handles or the strap, depending on how heavy it is or what else you need to carry simultaneously.
If you’re traveling or have a big sports day ahead with the kids, this is the bag I’d recommend!
Pros
Cons
I have always used the free makeup bags that come with Ulta orders, and they leave a lot to be desired.
This BAGSMART toiletry bag is so good I had to include it on this list. It unfolds so you can hang it up while doing your makeup, and everything can be neatly stored away.
No rummaging around a makeup bag trying to find your eyeliner – with this toiletry bag, you’ll be able to see it right away!
Yes, this is ideal for traveling, but I actually keep my makeup in it 24/7. It’s that convenient, and when we do decide to travel, I don’t have any additional packing to do.
It’s a must-have!
Pros
Cons
If you’re a working mom, this bag should be the first one on your list.
It was made with moms in mind, and it has a padded laptop section, though it won’t fit the larger-sized laptops (bummer!).
It basically combines your smaller purse and laptop bag into one, so you don’t have to lug around both.
It has really nice features like a wipable inside, luggage sleeve, and metal feet so the base is really sturdy. I really love this bag; I just wish it fit my larger laptop. That’s really my own qualm with it!
Pros
Cons
OK, so full transparency – I don’t own the Lulu belt bag, but I do own its cousin, the All Night Festival Bag.
These are so good! The quality of Lululemon products is really great, and while they are a little pricier than other no-name brands on Amazon, they hold up really well.

Best Bags for Moms FAQs
You recommended 10 bags… which ones do I actually need?
I’m not naive enough to think every mom out there will buy 10 bags. However, each bag serves a unique purpose, so the bags you need will depend on your lifestyle.
Personally, I absolutely could not live without the Minooy Bali bag—it’s my everyday purse with all my essentials. And anytime my kids are coming along, we bring the Huhu diaper backpack without question.
The other bags on this list are nice-to-have bags, but if I had to really narrow things down to just the necessities, these two would be my ride or dies now that we have them.
Which bag is best for moms with littles?
If you’re in the infant stage, you don’t want to carry around a bag. You need your hands to be free so you can carry a baby or car seat when you’re out and about. The best bag for the baby stage is a diaper backpack, and my favorite is from Huhu. Your hands are freed up for your baby, and the Huhu diaper bag holds a ton!
When is it best to transition out of a diaper bag and into a normal one?
Around age 1, you can transition out of a diaper bag and into a regular purse. That said, my youngest is 2, and I still bring a diaper bag with us! I just don’t use it as a purse as well anymore; I carry around my Minooy crossbody bag for personal essentials.
What if I don’t want to carry around a diaper bag… ever?
If diaper bags aren’t your jam, I highly suggest keeping a “restock” bag in your car. Keep extra changes of clothes, diapers, wipes, and other essentials, and keep only the bare necessities in your regular purse. My crossbody bag from Minooy fits a diaper a travel pack of wipes, easily. The Lululemon belt bag or festival bag is another great option for this setup!
Conclusion
A good mom bag is essential, and you don’t realize just how essential it is until you have kids.
Kids come with a lot of stuff, which is why I really love the bags on this list. They pack a lot of items in a small amount of space. I’m a sucker for good organization, and these fit the bill.
Please let me know in the comments what bag is your favorite!
